Carrots For Dogs
Carrots for dogs? What's the world coming to? It's senses of course! Far healthier than mass market dog biscuits or treats, here's what's good about the all mighty carrot. "But dogs are carnivores," I hear you say. Basically yes, but any vegetable is at least a food rather than a cooked-to-death, fake-flavored, preservative-filled grocery store dog biscuit or treat. (I'm not opinionated am I?)
Besides, even in the wild carnivores do get plant matter through the intestines of their prey. That reminds me, for the best digestion, raw vegetables for dogs should be pulverized in the food processor just before serving.Even without pulverization, carrots are a darn fun treat for many dogs. I don't think I've ever had a dog that wouldn't eat them. (Broccoli is another favorite - go figure.) Carrots are tough. You can play fetch with them before they're devoured or share a bag of those little mini carrots with your dog. You can get them at the grocery store without having to make a trip to the dog deli, and they are nutritious!
What's In A Carrot The Vitamin A in carrots is far superior to any standard vitamin tablet. Did you know Vitamin A is the builder of body tissue and typical signs of the lack of this nutrient are dry itchy dog skin and a dull coat? There are also benefits of vitamin A for liver, kidney and lung since this vitamin is like motor oil for the lining of the those organs. Quality, natural fiber helps clean the intestines, making it less hospitable to parasites like tapeworms. Another good source of Vitamin A is fish liver oil, if you'd like to check out that page. So, go ahead and share a few carrots with your canine. You'll be glad you did.
