Dog Nutrition
The definition of dog nutrition in my dictionary is: The process of nourishing or being nourished, especially the process by which a living organism assimilates food and uses it for growth and tissue replacement. We all have the basic idea of what digestion is. Digesting is breaking down food so it then can be assimilated by the body. And to assimilate means to consume and incorporate into the body. It transforms food into living tissue. Now that our little lesson part is over, let me just say I would rather have my living tissue made up of, say, a green leafy salad or an apple than the sugar, corn syrup and chocolate in a candy bar. And since we're talking about nutrition for your dog, wouldn't you rather have your dog's tissue made up of meat, vegetables and grains instead of by-products leftover not fit for human (or dog) consumption? Read The Healthiest Dog Food Primer. Dog health is the absence of disease and disease is the absence of health. Health was here first, so what did we do? I think it's time we went back to nature for some of the answers instead of pseudo-food made in factories. Without nutritious dog food, there's nothing to rebuild healthy cells to create or maintain health and avoid disease. In fact, eating that way for either of you long term would have the opposite affect. Aches, pain and disease. Point made, lets move on to nutrition and dog food, where I share a personal experience proving the importance of nutrition for your dog. Please don't let this happen to your dog. And a surprise lesson I learned several months after I switched my five dogs from highly processed food to a better diet for dogs. I call it, The scoop is in the poop.
