The Healthiest Dog Food Primer

The healthiest dog food isn't possible for all of us to provide.

There is the cost involved, which can be rather expensive especially if you happen to own several big dogs.

And there is planning, shopping, washing, chopping, grinding, cooking, and combining cooked with raw dog foods.

Money aside, change isn't easy for anyone.

Now that I have your attention, I want to offer another possibility. It's called improvement. Even without the healthiest dog food, we can have healthy dogs.

If you have read Step One in Healthy Dog Diet, you're on the right track. The rest of it can progress over time.

Take baby steps. It's not about perfection, it's about improvement. If you are here and you've read several pages on this website, you've probably completed the first step already. You are aware.

Be proud. Being aware of the things that cause dog illness and disease, like over-vaccination are things not widely known. Not even by many veterinarians. Certainly the drug companies making vaccines are not going to admit these dog shots don't always work. And why should they pass along reported side effects when there is no law requiring them to do so?

Now it's time to let CANI be your guide and a lifelong motto. What is CANI? It's not 'can I', it's more like 'I can'. It stands for:

Constant
And
Neverending
Improvement

Those baby steps will get you where you want to go. I think change tends to be more permanent this way. There are two reasons for this. Habit and experience.

We buy the same food for our dogs just as we tend to buy the same foods for ourselves whether it's healthy or not. We also fall prey to the same addictions of sugar, corn syrup and chemical flavor enhancers. You did know that stuff is in dog food right?
