Making Homeopathic Remedies

Strength of the medicinal preparation varies depending on the dilutions when making homeopathic remedies. Here is a short explanation.

The more diluted a homeopathy remedy is, the stronger it is and the higher the number and potency.

Yes, you read that correctly. The MORE diluted, the STRONGER it becomes.

Don't look at me that way! I did not make this up, just trying to make it more easily understood.

First of all, the number following the name of the remedy indicates how many times the original substance has been diluted. So a remedy of 10X is stronger than one labeled 1X.

Most remedies will have either an X or a C value. The difference between 1X, 2X and 3X are as follows:

  • One drop medication added to nine drops of alcohol = 1X.

  • One drop of the 1X mixture added to nine drops alcohol = 2X.

  • One drop of 2X mixture added to nine drops alcohol = 3X

  • Therefore 1X = 1/10 concentration; 2X = 1/100 concentration and 3X = 1/1,000 concentration

Now when making remedies with a C value the dilutions are 1/100 so:

  • One drop medication added to 99 drops alcohol = 1C

  • One drop of 1C mixture added to 99 drops alcohol = 2C etc.
  • Therefore 1C = 1/100 concentration and 2C = 1/10,000 concentration. The over the counter homeopathic remedies I get are all 30C.

When making homeopathic remedies in pill form, powdered milk sugar is used instead of alcohol. Because of the energy of these remedies, especially the pills cannot be touched or the potency is diminished. For humans, use the lid by pouring the dose into it and then pour the tiny pills under the tongue for absorption. When giving this medicine to your dog for canine illness, crush the pills inside a folded paper with the back of a spoon or a rolling pin and pour inside the mouth.
