The Road to Nutritious Dog Food - Step 2 - Add Healthy Foods to the Mix
Nutritious dog food is Part Two of the Healthy Dog Diet Guideline. By reducing dog toxins and increasing nutritious foods we can really help our canine companions get healthy. With Step One complete, let's add more nutritious dog food and lessen the kibble. With the most toxic dog food ingredients eliminated, it's time to get rid of the next-to-the-worst.
- Chicken meal, turkey meal, beef meal, lamb meal
- Processed grains: brewers rice, wheat flour
- Poultry or animal fat (saturated fat)
A note about meat. If meat and meat meal in dog food doesn't scare you, here is a statistic - 140,000 tons of poultry is condemned each year in the United States, mainly due to cancer. Where does it go? In animal food of course.Now let's add or increase these healthy dog foods to your canine's food bowl: - Raw dog foods - Human grade meats, eggs and
- Vegetables - Raw carrots, cabbage, kale, broccoli and cooked green beans, pumpkin, sweet potatoes to name a few.
- cooked whole grains - brown rice, oatmeal, barley, buckwheat, millet, quinoa etc.
- Bone Meal - An important source of calcium and phosphorus in the right ratio.
Once you do these steps, I bet you'll have the makings of your first home made dog food recipe! If you haven't added a dog food supplement yet, now's the time to do it.
