The treatment and cure for a dog yeast ear infection at home isn't difficult once you understand where it comes from.
An abundance of yeast can be one of many antibiotic side effects.
Since dog antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria, there is no good bacteria to keep the yeast from growing out of control.
Nor is there enough beneficial bacterial in the gut which means food cannot be fully digested.
Even if your dog has not been on antibiotics, there are other drugs and foods that ruin the delicate balance of beneficial flora as well.
Here's a few things you can do to cure it once and for all.
Please note - if your dog suffers from chronic yeast ear infections, his body is out of balance and needs more help than the first recipe. Either way, here is where you can start.
Here we have one of the many benefits of vinegar! Raw organic and unfiltered apple cider vinegar is a wonderful helper to keep around and actually battles the yeast in a dog yeast ear infection. Here's the recipe:
Mix the vinegar and water in the glass bottle.
For a medium size dog, put an eyedropper full into each ear and let them shake it out. Massage the ears if he'll let you to spread what is left inside. You can also use the mixture to wipe inside the ear with a saturated cotton ball.
Beware, if you love oil and vinegar dressing, you may crave a salad after the experience. For more about the benefits of vinegar, see Does Vinegar Kill Fleas?
*Please note that only raw organic apple cider vinegar is medicinal.
If you already have my home remedies for dogs kit, (yay!) you can cure both a bacterial canine ear infection and even a recurring dog yeast infection problem without any odor at all.
How? Well remember that Silver Shield I rave about? Silver Shield is antibiotic, anti-viral AND anti-fungal?
How about the Probiotics Eleven? Yup, that too. Now you can start balancing that gut flora, help the good bacterial become balanced and help keep that darn yeast from making a comeback. Especially if your dog has previously been on antibiotics.
Liquid Silver Shield Stock #4274-1 Twice a day, use an eyedropper and put 3 to 6 drops (small or large dog) in each ear. Give it a good massage and leave it in there. Don't worry if he shakes any out.
Probiotics Eleven Stock #1510-1 Sprinkle the contents of two capsules on his food twice a day. (My dogs adore the stuff so I often empty the capsules into the palm of my hand for a treat.)

Note about yeast gone wild: If your dog has black spots on his skin that weren't there before. If he itches and seems uncomfortable, it is possible he is suffering from a huge amount of yeast throughout his body. I can help so contact me (and don't be lazy. Fill out the long form.) Often it doesn't dawn on a dog owner this is actually yeast.
If the vinegar works for you that's wonderful. In addition to the vinegar, probiotics will help get the good bacteria growing back to normal, which will help naturally cut down on the yeast inside the body.
A yeast or candida problem will usually be deeper than what you see on the surface so probiotics can help a lot.
Even though I prefer Probiotics Eleven, you might try to find JaroDophilis for dogs in the refrigerated section of the health food store and give that on a daily basis. It's much cheaper than return trips to the vet for dog ear medicine.
If you do not have my home remedies for dogs kit, and wish to buy it, here are important links.

Next, go to Home Remedies for Dogs. You will find exactly what to buy and another link to NSP to make your purchase. Remember to put your Probiotics Eleven in the fridge the minute you get it.
Dogs that suffer from chronic dog yeast ear infections often have bad breath, itchy skin and body odor. This is a clear sign that the dog immune system is out of balance and needs help.
